Tasks

A Stage is at the highest level of the hierarchy of activities within each methodology and users are provided with an introduction, key tips and a ‘To Do’ list as well as a list of tasks that make up the stage. There are typically between five and ten stages in a methodology.

The task represents the work that needs to be done and it is at this lowest level that guidance is provided and assets (e.g. templates, examples and checklists) are available for download.  Each methodology will typically contain between fifty and seventy tasks.

Task Records

Each task has an associated Task Record that contains:

  • Description of the task;
  • Guidance for its use;
  • List of assets that can be downloaded;
  • One of more roles that will complete the task;
  • Estimated days for completion;
  • References to any supporting documents

Features

The features available for tasks are:

  • Tasks may be linked by subject by using ‘threads’;
  • You can change existing tasks e.g. to adopt your terminology;
  • Tasks can be added, deleted and re-sequenced;
  • Access can be restricted e.g. for reasons of confidentiality

Users of the Professional and Enterprise options can also assign tasks to individual users as well as record, track and report task completion. Note that these features are available for all Change Factory options except for the ‘Standard’ option and also require the Method Manager tool.
